Dogs have always been the best companion a human being could ask for. We always keep them as family members. They offer us comfort in difficult times, and we also want to provide them with the best possible time on earth. We offer them everything for fun and comfort, such as toys, clothes, and dog beds for large dogs.

But in unconditional love for our best friends, we forget the essential things, the nurturing and educating them. Yes, at first, this might seem a bit intimidating. But if you own a pet before this, you know the importance of dog training. Although, for first-time owners, this might seem a waste of time. But training will not only transform your puppy into a well-behaved pooch but also make the bond between you more assertive.

An untrained and uncontrolled pet can make your life a living hell, and they are mighty as they can destroy your entire home at once. So, training is a must for every dog owner and dog. First-time owners do not need to get intimidated by the whole process as it is effortless to coach a pet . There are specific ways in which they behave toward things. These pre-set training methods help transform your furry friend into a well-behaved friend.

There are mainly three types of dog training methods to train dogs:

  • Treat Training
  • Clicker Training
  • Hand Signals for Dogs

Treat Training

It is clear from its name that this training method includes some kind of treat in return for good behaviour by your furry friend. In this training, they will receive ample praise and a treat after successfully performing a command. In this way, they associate excellent and calm behavior with treats and always try to be nice to get the treat. Always give the treat right after your furry friend performs the requested command. This method is a continuous process, so do not break the process. Be Consistent in your vocal commands, hand motions, and even tone, which will make the process swift. Do not give many treats to your pooch, as these treats must be counted in its daily calorie intake. Try not to make your furry friend addicted to treats. Make sure to provide comfort to your pets during the training And give them toys to play with, and provide them with orthopedic dog beds to sleep in.

Clicker Training

This is similar to the treat technique. The clicker is a small device, and the hand-held device produces a clicking noise when pushed. In this method, some command is set to the clicker’s sound, and your furry friend behaves according to that. The clicking signal makes your pet feel that they have rightly responded to the command and shown positive behavior. The fast and unmistakable clicker’s sound can be associated with good behavior and a food treat. The sound of a clicker is always consistent. The timing of the click must be during good behavior. Don’t delay the click or clicks early, as this can be coined as a bribe, not a treat.

Hand Signals for Dogs

It is the most underrated method. But it is one of the most critical methods for dogs with hearing impairments. Visual training can be more effective when combined with treat and clicker methods. The easiest and most efficient training method. This method requires eye contact between the pet and the handler or owner, so the relationship between them is the key to success. Consistency is crucial to implementing this method successfully. Use only one signal for one command. Keep your hand motions unique so that they are hard to mix up.

Vital Tips for Dog Training:

Start early

Start the pet training right after you buy the dog. A dog can start training when the dog is around 12-16 weeks old, which is the best training time. It is proven that little dogs can learn faster and more efficiently than older dogs. Always prefer to bring a small pooch to your home.

Don’t Be Afraid of Failure

Dog training is a long process. A pet cannot be trained in a few hours, and sometimes all the efforts go in vain. In this training, the handler and the pet need to be focused and patient.

Be Concise

Dogs are brilliant animals and can learn many words, signals, signs and phrases. But using multiple things on time can confuse them about the result you want from them. So, do not use whole sentences or multi-step commands for better training results.

Be patient

It takes a few moments for your pet to process and react according to your command. So do not expect your pooch to follow instructions immediately.

End on Positive Note

At the end of every successful session, show your appreciation towards your pooch. Give him your love and show him that you both are friends.
